We know finding the right support for your child can come with lots of questions. Here are a few things to know about Birdie!

What makes Birdie different? 

Birdie is more than a therapy clinic. We’re creating a space where children and families feel welcomed, supported, and understood. From individualized, play-based therapy to inclusive groups, classes, and community events, our goal is to support the whole child and the whole family. We believe growth happens everywhere- not just during a therapy session- and we want Birdie to be a place where every child has the opportunity to learn, connect, and thrive.

Where are you located? 

We are located in Portage MI, in the lower level of the Portage Community Center. Our address is 325 E Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49002.

Do you work with insurance? 

Birdie Pediatric Therapy is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance. We’re happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. FSA & HSA funds can be used to pay for therapy services as well. 

We'll help you understand the cost of services before scheduling so you can make an informed decision for your family. 

At Birdie, we believe the cost of care should be clear from the very beginning. With straightforward, upfront pricing, you'll always know what to expect-no surprise bills from insurance, unexpected out-of-pocket expenses, or confusing explanations of benefits. We’ve thoughtfully set our rates with families in mind, and many families may find that paying directly for therapy is more affordable than navigating insurance premiums, deductibles, and copays. Our goal is to make quality care more accessible, predictable, and stress-free, so you can focus on what matters most: your child.

What is your cancellation policy? 

We kindly ask that appointments be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a late cancellation fee, while missed appointments without notice will be charged the full session fee.

How do I get started? Do I need a referral? 

Getting started with Birdie is easy! Simply visit our our online booking system through our website and schedule the appointment that you are looking for. Referral requirements depend on the service, but don't worry-you don't need to figure it all out on your own! Once you've scheduled, our team will be in touch to help guide you through the next steps and make the process as simple as possible for your family.

How do groups and classes work? 

Birdie will offer a variety of groups and classes designed to help children play, connect, learn, and grow. Families can choose from class packs or drop-in options for added flexibility.

Our groups and classes are designed to complement, not replace, individual therapy. All children are welcome, whether they are current Birdie therapy clients or not, and regardless of ability or developmental stage. We believe every child deserves a place to belong!
